I Feel Faster Already

So this year... me, speed, trying to combine the two. It sounds easy but I assure you it's not. I am S-L-O-W, but last night, I felt a little faster. I decided to take advantage of a program held Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Metrodome (where the Twins and Vikes play). It's only a dollar, and you can run for up to 3 hours. Since my marathon training program will require me to start doing intervals, I figured I'd better get used to them. Minnesota sidewalks in February = tretcherous, so running inside sounded like a great idea.

The dome "track" measures approximately 630 meters per lap on the side that I was running, so my goal was to run 5 intervals at 7:30 pace with two minutes rest in between. I know 2 minutes is a long time, but I wanted to ease into them a little bit. I liked them so much, I did 6. I'm not even joking. The goal was to hit my laps at around 3 minutes, which would be just a little over 7:30 mile pace. (I do realize that this is slower than Steve's half marathon pace a week ago).


I've got a lot of work to do before June, but I felt really strong the whole time, and I'm actually excited to go back next week. Maybe this speed stuff will be fun after all!

I'm trying to work on the speed stuff too. Nice abs... I had abs like that once in college, I bet I'll never get 'em back. Well, I guess I do have them, they are just under a couple layers of warmth.

I'm working on "speed" this year to. Nice work on the intervals. I'm sure the speed will come in no time.

I still listen to the KILLERSCD you gave me. I think i want to do an IM sometime when i get the TT /cycling bug under control!


I should start doing intervals this year too. Yuck. I am not a fan of them though!
